Everything You Wanted to Know About Hours
(But Were Afraid to Ask)

What is an "Hour"?
When a member of OPA assists the university, community-at-large, the members of the sorority, or other nations, the time taken to complete the task is declared a service hour or hours.  When contemplating service in its truest sense, we find it is the thoughtfulness and deeds themselves which are most important.  Measuring our work in hours merely gives us some ideas of the quantity of work accomplished, and allows us to compare chapter efforts for awards.

Types of Hours

Project hours:
    1. Service projects agreed to be done as a chapter
(Ex. projects discussed in meetings, Big Event, Replant)
    2. Meetings in preparation for specific projects and temporary committee meetings
(Ex. Whenever you represent OPA at a meeting to get information for a project)

Chapter Management hours:    This includes any task or time spent on behalf of the chapter.
    1. Time spent working on any of the standing committees
(Ex. social, service, telephone, fund-raising, etc.
    2. Chapter fund-raising for chapter treasury
(Ex. car wash, making rose shop items, etc.)
    3. Rush oriented activities
(Ex. attending open house and rush meetings, providing supplies for rush, bringing friends)

Personal hours:    Any hours done apart from the sorority or related projects
Ex. dorm recycling, donations to Goodwill or Phoebe's Home
