what is pioneers?Pioneers is a ministry to underprivileged children from kindergarten through high school living in Bryan. Buses pick up children from various apartment complexes and neighborhoods around Bryan and then bring them back to Emanuel Baptist Church where there are lessons, corporate worship, and dinner provided by the Church. Classes are broken up by age and gender, with Scooters (kindergarten) being the only co-ed class, then 1st and 2nd boys and girls, 3rd and 4th boys and girls, 5th and 6th boys and girls, and youth guys and girls. New councelors will begin assisting in a room of their gender, in an age range of approximately their choosing, depending on need. Lessons or worship (depending on age and gender) start at 6:00pm and end at 8:00pm, but councelors are encouraged to arrive early to ride buses or enjoy time playing outdoors with the children. The evening is officially concluded with an informal meeting of councelors, typically running until around 9:00pm. Rides are available!
