The Aggie Speleological Society (ASS) is an officially-recognized student organization of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Our purpose is to create an interest in caving and conservation among the student body and provide the resources necessary to explore and learn about caves throughout Texas and elsewhere. Our gracious faculty sponsor is Dr. Robert Lytton, Professor of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M.
During the regular school year there several trips planned every semester to a number of not-too-far-away Texas caves. Larger trips are common during the holidays and spring break, often to Mexico or another exotic caving destination. Other non-caving social events and outdoor trips are not uncommon.
Meetings are held every Thursday night, usually in the Civil Engineering building on Texas A&M main campus. If an alternate location is planned, it can be seen on this web page or in listserv notices.
Dues are $10 for one semester or $15 for a whole year. Members are allowed to attend all club trips and functions and use club gear. Those who pay $15 will receive a sticker of their choice.
Our newsletter is the ASS Explorer, which has gone into hiding for the last few years but is soon to reemerge from its dark hole and rear it's ugly, entertaining head.
